The 30-day trial
What is the 30-day trial?
The 30-day trial, held in Café Nyan's Demo Room, is the time the applicant must be on every day for at least 1 hour for 30 days at a time arranged with the owner under the supervision of another staff. During this time, the trainee does not have mod privileges, and cannot be gifted yet.
Trainees must complete 30 days worth of training which will be tallied and noted. Any less, more days will be added until 30 days is reached or trainee requests to opt out of the hiring process.
The 30-day trial is a way for us to test our future staff to see if they have the right attitude and patience to be entrusted with mod privileges.
How do you keep track of the 30 days?
Trainees are expected to complete the Trainee Timesheet provided after every shift. The form is how the owner keeps track of the days done, and the failure to complete the form will cost the trainee a day for each undocumented. Why? Because the owner cannot count what she was not able to see.
What is the purpose of the 30-day trial?
The 30-day trial is for the applicant to get a feel of how the cafe is run, the people they are working with, and to decide whether or not they'd like to continue being a permanent part of the family. If it is too much for the applicant, they are always free to discontinue the trial and the hiring process completely.
However, at the same time, it is also an opportunity for us to get to know our future staff, be able to see whether or not they are a loyal part of our cafe and if their attitude goes well with the rest of the Nyan family. It is also, quite frankly, a way for us to test whether or not our applicants are only in it for the gifts.
